Company profile

The company 4C Telecom was founded in 2000, in the Netherlands. With the sole purpose of making modern telecommunication available to a group of people that previously have been cut out of its advantages. Being the deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired people and their relatives.

Now, with the development and implementation of new technology and the cooperation between crucial partners, they will be able to make full use of cellphone devices. This tool is called Real Time Text Services, and it has been developed by a pan-European marketing consortium called Real Time Text Alliance. Its members are OpenCloud, HTK, RSIC and 4C Telecom.

It was a Dutch social enterprise project that proved the need and commercial capabilities of mobile telecommunication for the hearing and speech impaired. After its success it was obvious that the target group was waiting for a permanent implementation of the service. Then, 4C Telecom was the logical answer to that call.

And it worked. Through cooperation with companies in the telecom and mobile device sector, and the support of several organisations and governments, the service is now available in the Netherlands. 4C Telecom lead this breakthrough. It will also be used in core government services throughout Europe. And this only the beginning.

For now that the implementation of a world standard for text telephony has succeeded, it is a matter of time before a world wide roll out will succeed. By now, an ecosystem of companies is working together to install its benefits. And everyone is welcome to join that effort.
